Theo Elizabeth “Susie” Eagleton Jones, daughter of the late Johnny and Jannie Johnson Eagleton, was born in Florence, South Carolina on May 18, 1941. She departed her earthly life on Monday, July 22, 2019 at MUSC after an illness.
Theo was affectionately called “Susie.” She obtained her education in the Public Schools of Florence County, South Carolina, graduating from Wilson High School in 1959. She was formerly employed and retired from Florence School District 2 (Pamplico), South Carolina for over 30 years.
Susie met and married the love of her life, James C. Jones, on July 29, 1961. To this union, two children were born.
Susie accepted Christ as her personal Savior. She joined Aimwell Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully as a Junior Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School Teacher for many years, member of AMBC Missionary Society, and sang on the Aimwell Missionary Baptist Church Gospel Choir.
Susie was also a member of the following organizations: Order of the Eastern Star Light of Pamplico #80 and The Red Hat Society.
To know Susie was to just love her. She loved her family, neighbors, Church family and friends. Susie seemed to touch everyone who came in contact with her in a very special way.
Susie was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Jannie Johnson Eagleton; husband, James Cornelious Jones.
Left to cherish her legacy and precious memories are her loving children, Sylvester C. Jones (Petra) of Maryland and Juan S. Jones (Brandy) of Killeen, TX; four grandchildren, Tanisha and Janina of Maryland; Joshua and Jadin of Killeen, TX; one great-grandson, Zakai Jones of Maryland. Two sisters, Gertrude and Iris Eagleton of Florence, SC; four brothers, Johnny Eagleton, Jr. (Lethea) of Effingham, SC; Willie L. Eagleton of Bennettsville, SC; David A. Eagleton of Conway, SC; Frank L. Eagleton of Florence, SC, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that she loved.
