Reverend Pamela Denise Brown - Goodman was born in Timmonsville section of Florence County, SC on June 28, 1962 to the late Horace Brown and Shirley Brown Sheppard. She went home peacefully to be with the lord at her residence on Friday, October 2, 2020.
Pamela, or Pammie to some of her dearest friends and family, attended and graduated from Timmonsville High School in 1980. Pamela graduated in 1985 from Francis Marion College, presently known as Francis Marion University, with a Bachelor’s Degree in English with a focus in Secondary Education. In 2010, she obtained her Master’s Degree in School Administration from Cambridge University.
Before she became a teacher, Pamela worked at Sear’s Department Store for 12 years. Pam began her teaching career at Hartsville High School in Darlington County. She taught English there for 35 years before retiring in 2020. She taught all grades through out her career there and had a passion for teaching no one could deny. Even though her classes may have been tough at times, she made sure her students learned lessons that would stay with them past graduation. She also leaves behind fond memories with her fellow teachers and staff members.
Pam accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Christ Temple Holiness Church in Timmonsville, SC. Pam became an Ordained Minister on July 9, 1995 at Christ Temple Holiness Church Timmonsville, SC, under the charge of the late Elder Dan Reddin, Sr. She later became an ordained Reverend on March 12, 2000 under the Leadership of Rev. Livingston Cannon at Mt. Ephriam Baptist Church, Florence, SC. She was a member of Compassion Church of Florence before her passing.
Pam was a member of the National Education Association (NEA) and former President of the South Carolina Education Association (SCEA).
Pam was preceded in death by her parents: Horace Brown and Shirley Brown-Sheppard
Pam leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter: Elizabeth Goodman of Charlotte, NC and her five sisters: Sandra Dawson, Natalie Sheppard, April Sheppard, Daphne (Andre) Roberts, and Stephanie Sheppard-Grant and many nieces and nephews; her step-father Nathaniel Sheppard; along with her former husband Willie Goodman Jr. Special thanks to her HHS family, the Jamison family, her “FMU daughters,” and the Reddin family
