Mr. James C. Jones, was born on September 5, 1938 in Florence County to the late Mr. Willie and Mrs. Mariah Myers Stewart Jones. He transitioned his earthly life and went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Monday, January 22, 2018 at Carolina Hospital System.

James received his formal education from the public schools of Florence County and was a graduated of Gibbs High School in 1958. In his early years, James was a farmer, worked at J. P. Stevens, retired from the South Carolina Department of Education and at the time of his death he was currently employed at South Carolina Waste Management System in the Hannah Community.

James met and married the love of his life, Theo “Susie” Jones in 1961. They were married for 56 years and to this union, two sons were born.

Mr. James joined Aimwell Baptist Church at an early age where he served faithfully until his death. He served in various capacities within the church and the community such as: one of the original volunteers of Pamplico Fire and Rescue Squad, Pamplico Voter’s Registration, Florence County School Board District #2 where he served 21 years of outstanding and dedicated service. He was also one of the original members of the Gospel Choir, Usher Board, Chairman of the Trustee Board, Sunday School Department, Brotherhood Association, and Boy Scouts.

Mr. James C. Jones was Past Master of Hyman Lodge #138 Prince Hall Affiliated, Past Patron of the Light of Pamplico Chapter #80 Order of Eastern Star, and a member of the Pee Dee Chapter #32 Holy Royal Arch Masons.

Mr. James was well known by many and liked by all who he came in contact with. He had a love for all people. He will forever be remembered for the dedication and love he had for his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six siblings.

Those left to cherish his precious memories are: his loving wife, Theo “Susie” Eagleton Jones; children: Sylvester C. (Petra) Jones of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Juan S. (Brandy) Jones of Killeen, TX; four grandchildren: Tanisha Jones, and Janina Jones both of Upper Marlboro Maryland, Joshua C. Jones and Jadin A. Jones both of Killeen, TX; and one great grandson: Zakai Jones of Upper Marlboro Maryland, MD; one adopted sister: Mary “Libby” Myers, of Columbia, SC; three sisters-in-law, Enda Stewart, of Baltimore, MD; Gertrude Eagleton and Iris E. Eagleton both of Florence, SC; four brothers-in-law, Johnny (Letha) Eagleton of Effingham, SC; Willie L. Eagleton, of Bennettsville, SC; David A. Eagleton, of Conway, SC; Frank Eagleton (Faye Gurley) of Florence; ans a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
