Mettie Rue Graham Mcneil

Mother Mettie Rue Graham McNeil was born in Florence County, SC to the late Mr. P. R. and Mrs. Alberta Stuckey Graham. She was born on November 8, 1925 and entered into peaceful rest on February 11, 2015.


She was educated in the Florence County Public Schools. She was a Homemaker and she was also a domestic worker.


She was united in marriage to the late Deacon Orin McNeil on December 27, 1942. To this union three children were born.


After her marriage she joined the Aimwell Baptist Church where she served in many capacities. She was the Deaconess President, Pastor Aide treasurer and the Senior Usher Board Secretary. She was also an active member of the Missionary Society, Adult Sunday School Class and the Senior Choir. She was a baptized believer who loved her church family and especially her pastor and first lady.


In addition to her parents and husband, she was pre-deceased by her daughter, Mrs. Nora H. Johnson, one sister and three brothers.


To cherish loving memories are: one son, Bishop Calvin McNeil(Gertie); one daughter, Sandra McNeil. One brother who she raised as a son, Deacon Wille Graham(Elizabeth); one son-in-law, Mr. Jimmy Johnson; seven grandchildren, Elder Rodney Johnson, Calvin Levern McNeil, Sabrina Johnson Watford(Elder Owen), Derrick Johnson(Marnie), Orin Bradford McNeil(Amy), Charitta McNeil Cooper(Herbert), Leslie Walker Frazier; ten great- grandchildren: Alyse, Janelle, David, Aiverie, Ashley, BJ, Jared, Morgan, Kyle and CJ.


She also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Geraldine McNeil(Herbert) and Vernie Gorley; six brothers: Mr. Hamon Graham, Sr., Bishop Fred Graham(Bernice), Rev. McKinley Graham(Carolyn), Mr. Judge Graham(Lorrine), Mr. Bobby Graham(Ruth), Mr. John Graham(Justine); one sister-in-law: Mrs. Rebecca Graham; caregiver, Mrs. Teresa Cooper; a host of other loving relatives, friends and her church family.


Mother McNeil was blessed daily to have the devoted love and care of her sister Geraldine and brothers Rev. McKinley, Bobby and his wife Ruth along with the faithful and constant prayers of her brother Bishop Fred Graham.
