Haster Myers Cain

May 2, 1921 — April 7, 2014

HASTER CAIN was one of five children born to the late Reddick and Isabella Myers of Pamplico, South Carolina. All of her siblings preceded her in death: Adlene Cox, Zillie Graham, Ned Myers, and Julius Myers.

She attended and was educated at Rosewald School in Pamplico. While there she played Basketball.

While living in Pamplico, Haster joined and became a faithful and active member of Pee Dee Baptist Church, serving as Sunday School Secretary and President of the Usher Board.

During that time, she met and married Daniel D. Cain. From this union, three children were born: Daniel Lee, Regina and Sharon.

In 1952, she came to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. While attending Nursing School she joined Ward A. M. E. Church. At Ward, she served on the Stewardess Board B, Missionary Society and South Carolina Roots Club. She was a volunteer, always visiting the sick and shut-in members. She was a dedicated and faithful member.

She worked as a Housekeeper where she was always treated like a member of the family. After retiring she volunteered as a foster grandparent for the Kencrest Program. After realizing grandchildren of her own were on the way, her next duties were to stay home and care for them. She took great joy in helping the next generation of her family.

She leaves to mourn: her loving and devoted children, Daniel Lee Cain (Yvette) of Philadelphia, Regina Cain-Brown of Collingdale, PA, Sharon Cain-Johnson (Stephen) of Philadelphia; a dear “adopted” daughter, Eddie Mae Ellison of Philadelphia; two sisters-in-law, Jeneather Myers of Connecticut and Marylee Wallace of Connecticut; nine grandchildren, eleven great-grands, four great-great grands and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, neighbors and friends.
