George Norman Chandler

Pamplico, South Carolina


For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for my departure is near.I have fought the good fight,I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. George Norman Chandler was born on February 14, 1946 in South Carolina the County of Williamsburg. He was the son of Walter Chandler and Sarsh Porcher Chandler. He was preceded in death by his parents and 16 siblings.


After the death of his parents, he lived with his brothers the late John Chandler and Laura Chandler in Pamplico, South Carolina for a period of time. Later he moved to Brooklyn, New York, to lived with his older sister Odessa and her husband, he later relocated to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with his brother the late Reverend Daniel Chandler.


He attended the public schools of Williamsburg County, and further his education in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He worked as a Roofer for all of his adult life.


“Norman”, as he was affectionately called by his family and friends, after living in Kingstree, South Carolina for a while, decided to move back with his sister Odessa after the death of her husband, in Pamplico, South Carolina.


“ Norman “, was a person who would make you laugh by telling his jokes, and make your bad days turn into good days.


On Saturday August 22, 2020, at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, South Carolina, after an illness, God Almighty in his infinite wisdom called George Norman Chandler from labor to reward.


Those left to cherish his memory and to mourn his passing, are his loving and devoted family: his sisters, Odessa Timmons of Pamplico, SC, Rosa Ann ( Willie ) Tisdale of Orlando, FL, Queen Ester Berry of Woodlyn, NJ, Christine C. Shaw of Kingstree, SC; one brother Wilbur “ Booster “ Chandler of Rochester, NY; one sister -in-law

Annie Chandler of Kingstree, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.

Memorial services for Mr. George Norman Chandler will be held on Saturday August 29, 2020 at 11:AM at the Salem Independent Methodist Church, 443 W. Myrtle Beach Highway, Kingsburg, SC
