Mr. William McElveen, Sr., affectionately known as LJ, was born October 17, 1923 in Florence, SC. He was the son of the late David Jhugh McElveen and Bertha (McAllister) McElveen. He entered into peaceful rest on March 7, 2022 at Faith Healthcare Center in Florence, SC.
He received his formal education in the public schools of Florence, SC. At an early age, he became a member of Aimwell Baptist Church. He was a faithful member. He served as a Deacon of his beloved church for many, many years. He was known for his fervent prayers over his family and congregation. He will surely be missed.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Savannah H. McElveen, and his two sons, William McElveen Jr. and Alvin McElveen. Also a sister, Mamie Wright.
Left to cherish precious memories are his daughter, Nancy Coaxum, his grandchildren; Gerald (Eleanor) Coaxum, Melinda (Edward) Spears, Johnathan (Gloria) Coaxum, Emmanuel (Shannelle) Coaxum, Shaquiah McElveen, Lukisha Redmond, William (Vernique) McElveen, Jerome McElveen, Shobby (Bridgett) McElveen, Felicia McClain, and Alicia (Leo) Shoemaker, a host of great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves to cherish his precious memory, his special friend and companion, Estelle Lewis.
Home Going services will be conducted on Saturday, March 19th at 11:00 a.m. at Aimwell Baptist Church Cemetery in Pamplico, SC Viewing is on Friday, March 18th from 2 - 6 p.m. at Mt. Zion Chapel Baptist Church, 756 Pamplico Highway in Pamplico, SC Please adhere to Covid-19 precautions at the visitation,
