Bishop Joseph David Flemming

August 20, 1939 — June 24, 2020

Bishop Joseph David Flemming, son of Annie Mae McFadden “Flemming” Shaw and the late Isaac Flemming , was born August 20, 1939 in Clarendon County, SC.


He attended the public schools of Clarendon County, SC.


He later moved to Pahokee, FL and then to Fort Pierce, FL, where he was employed by General Development Construction Company, and shortly after leaving there he started his own Lawn Care Service.



Joe as he was affectionately called accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Oak Grove African Methodist Episcopal Church, Olanta, SC where he was a faithful member. He later became a Pastor and a Elder under the leadership of Elder Herbert Lurry Jr. at The Church of God in Christ of Fort Pierce, FL.

He began his Ministerial training under Elder Herbert Lurry and did his trial sermon 48 years ago. He later became the Pastor of the First New-Born Holiness Church of Deliverance, Ft. Pierce, FL where he served until the Lord called him home.




Our beloved Joseph David Flemming transitioned to life everlasting on June 24, 2020. He was preceded in death by his father and son Joseph David Flemming Jr.


He leave to cherish his memories, his wife Laura J. Flemming, of the home, and his mother, Annie M. McFadden “Flemming” Shaw of Lake City, SC; his children, Amy (Elder Dave) Patterson of the home; Shirley (Alphonso) Lawson, and Mattie Singletary both of Lake City, SC; Juana Yolanda Wilcox, Demetris W. (Andrew) Arthur; two sisters, Christine Shaw of Lake City, SC; Pearlie (Micheal) Shaw, of Gable, SC; two brothers; Rudolph (Robertha) Flemming, of Turbeville, SC; and Robert Lee Johnson, of Hallendale,FL .; four special love ones he raised as is own; Lavern McFadden, Debbie ( Steve) Cunningham, Ray Davis, and Walt (Brittney) Campbell; eleven grand-childrens, thirty-eight great grands, twenty-six great great-grands and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
