Early on Saturday, May 19, 2018, Elder Dan Reddin, Sr. transitioned from this earthly home to be with his heavenly father.
Born to the late Jim and Martha (Boykin) Reddin in Raleigh, NC, Elder Reddin was known by his many roles: loyal husband, doting father and grandfather, trusted advisor, brother, friend, and most importantly – fully committed man of God.
He married his only love, Pearline Hickson Reddin on March 25, 1950. They journeyed together for more than 68 years – through sickness and health, wealth and want – always connected.
Through this blessed union, Elder and Mother Reddin were gifted with six children: Patrina (John) Murray, Dan (Cheryl) Reddin, Jr., Joan (Richard) Waiters, Katherine (Willie) Scott, David (Catherine) Reddin and Mike (Dianne) Reddin; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild who are left to honor his legacy. He also leaves one brother, Leamon Reddin, and a dedicated church family. They loved mightily and proudly counted a host of other “children” and “grandchildren” as their own, including Linda Moses, who faithfully loved and cared for them.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Martha Veal and Shirley Perry; brothers Stacy Reddin, James Reddin, Leon Reddin and Ellis Newton; and son-in-law Roosevelt Durant, Sr.

Answering God’s call, Elder and Mother Reddin founded Christ Temple Holiness Church in 1985, committing themselves to the ministry of the Shepherd and care of His sheep. They worked day and night to feed hungry souls and offer them the hope of God. God’s word was always alive in them, and provided the foundation on which Christ Temple was built. He always said (with outstretched hands), “the doors swing on welcome hinges.” With that edict, Elder Reddin ministered to thousands over the years, teaching the Good Word and offering his life as a living sacrifice. His legacy mirrors the life that he lived; his life mirrored the Word that he taught – the Word of God: love the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul and with all thy mind; love thy neighbor as thyself; and live righteously. He will be missed but not forgotten.
