Jimmy Levern Kennedy was called to be with our Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 20, 2015, from McLeod Hospice Hospital of Florence, South Carolina. Mr Kennedy was born on January 20, 1962 to Thelma Kennedy Cockfield and the late James E.Hickson.

He received his formal education in the public schools of Florence County. He graduated from Lake City High School on June 6, 1980. He was employed as a landscaper for Poston landscaping for 29 years until his health failed.

Mr Kennedy was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, the late Louise McFadden Kennedy Wilder and the late Wallace Wilder who raised him, his father, James E Hickson, his stepfather Robert Willie Cockfield, one brother, William Robert Cockfield, 3 brother in laws; Randall Cooper, Charles Self, and Toney Foxter, one sister in law Denise McClam, a special uncle, Freddie Kennedy, and a special aunt Gloria Thomas, who were all like brothers and sisters to him.

Jimmy was well loved by all who knew him. He had a gentle spirit, was always kind hearted and hardworking. He would always have a smile for others even when he was not feeling his best. He also enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with his family and friends. He had a quiet strength about him that he exemplified till the end.
Jimmy, a loving and devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend, will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He leaves to cherish loving memories of him, his loving wife of 29 years, Gaye Kennedy, two daughters, Amanda (Dominique) Self of Pamplico, South Carolina and Shaetta (Antonio) Kennedy of Columbia, South Carolina a son Jimmy (Kristen) Kennedy Jr of the home; his mother Thelma Kennedy Cockfield of Lake City, South Carolina, his mother in law Lela McLaughlin of the home, seven brothers; Paul (Wendy) Kennedy, Curtis Hickson, Willie Cockfield, Jeffrey Cockfield and Derrick Cockfield all of Lake City, South Carolina, Jeffrey (Carmella) Kennedy of Pamplico, South Carolina and James Quarterbaum of Olanta, South Carolina, seven sisters; Eula Cooper, Marlyn (Ray) Carter, Paula Foxter, Kathy (Waddell) Pendergrass all of Lake City, South Carolina, Minister Roslyn (Terry) McElveen of Olanta, South Carolina, Chief Petty Officer Deborah Cockfield of Chesapeake, Virginia, Mira (Eugene) Cameron, Rachael (Thomas) Fulmore both of Florence, South Carolina, four grandchildren; Brody Kennedy of Darlington, South Carolina, Rae'Kwon, Zi'Quesha, and Zi'Kwon Bostick all of Pamplico South Carolina, the sister-in-laws; Dixie Sutton of Florence, South Carolina, Mary Ann Brown of Scranton, South Carolina, Lola Kennedy of Lake City, South Carolina, two brother-in-laws; Emanuel Brown and Brad Cain both of Pamplico, South Carolina, cherished nieces and nephews; Shaquanya (Peaches) Kennedy, Montee Self, Javari, Jayonte, Jakayis, and Jermarious Johnson, Randeshia Kennedy,Zamaruion King, a special aunt, Etta Kennedy of Edison, New Jersey, special cousins; David Thomas, Samuel Thomas and Leon Cockfield all of Lake City, South Carolina, special friends; Willie Singletary, Ronnie Singletary, George Singletary, Neil Poston, Scott Poston and a host of other nieces nephews family and friends
