Obituary for Norma Jean Foxworth Dingle

Victory Service for Norma Jean Dingle

Vivacious, Proud, Caring, Loving, Comical, Gourmet Cook, Fashonista, are just a few characteristics to describe such a beautiful woman. Although she embodied those characteristics the most important characteristic that will always be remembered is her love for God. She made certain that she maintained her relationship with our Lordand Savior Jesus Christ. Up until the final week of her life, she prayed and praised. Her final words were uplifting the name of Jesus. Her proclamation for Christ was demonstrated BOLDLY, with no shame or fear!

Mrs. Norma Jean Dingle, wife, mother, sister, sister in law, cousin, friend or as her brother Ronnie would call her, “Six” went to sleep, PEACEFULLY, on Sunday, October 26th, 2014 around 1:40 pm, at the McLeod Hospice Center in Florence, SC. The Lord called her from labor to reward, to rest, and be at peace until that great day.

Norma was born to the late Mother Lugenia and the late Deacon Nathaniel Foxworth on January 8th, 1953 in Marion, South Carolina. She was the tenth of eleven children and also the “baby-girl” of the five girls. She received her education from Paterson Public School #13, Eastside High School in Paterson, NJ, Passaic County Community College in Paterson, NJ, and William Paterson University in Wayne, NJ.

The Foxworth family’s foundation is “Holiness”. Deacon Foxworth and Mother Foxworth, two of the founding members of the Greater Highway Church, under the leadership of Pastor and General Chairman of the Greater Highway Churches of Christ, Bishop Raymond F. Davis Sr., raised their children in church. The family migrated to Paterson, NJ in 1962. There in Paterson, Deacon Foxworth and Mother Foxworth, two of the founding members of the Highway Church in Paterson, NJ, continued to reinforce the ways of holiness to their children, under the leadership of the Presiding Prelate Bishop Liston Page Sr. In 1972, during a tent revival, Norma received the gift of the Holy Ghost, and was baptized in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. In 2003, Norma, her husband John and son Darren relocated from New Jersey to Florence, SC. There she joined True Faith Deliverance under the leadership of founder, pastor, Bishop Levester Williams Sr. in Florence, Sc.

On August 9th, 1969, Norma married the love of her life, Mr. John Dingle. To their union one son was born, the late Darren Dingle, on August 17th, 1970. Norma and Darren wanted for nothing. Mr. John Dingle made certain that his family was loved and well taken care of. Boy did he spoil them both! It was nothing for John to adorn her with gifts, from the latest fashion of clothes, purses, perfumes etc, to stuffed animals, stuff teddy bear and boxes of chocolates. He refers to Norma not only as his wife, but, as his best friend!

Norma was employed at Drakes Bakery in Wayne, NJ, St. Joseph’s Hospital, Paterson, NJ and Wayne GeneralHospital, Wayne, NJ, until her health failed. Norma was very articulate and had an array of talents. One thing thatcan be assured is that her sisters, nieces and sister in-laws will miss picking up the phone to call her not only for a laugh but to get her oh so famous recipes. Norma was an exceptional cook and could tell you the recipe to any dish. There are many things that will be missed from this jewel including her hobbies. She enjoyed making others laugh, cooking, watching movies of many different genres fromher infamous wall of movies where there has to be over 200 movies, including her favorite movie “The Bodyguard” with Kevin Costner, her favorite actor, and last but not least, Norma’s love for an “ice cold pepsi-cola”. If you knew her, you knew that you better not even try to come between Norma and her “ice cold pepsi-cola’s”. If you went to the house and looked for a pepsi, you would not be disappointed, you could find them all over the house, under bed, in the draws, just everywhere!

Norma enjoyed gospel music. She was one of the lead singers on the Sounds of Joy Church Choir of Highway Church in Paterson, NJ. Some of her favorite songs were “My Soul’s Been Anchored”, “Take me Back”, “Please Make Me Better”, “One of these Mornings”, “I’m Free”, “Holding On”, and many, many more. She enjoyed listening to Walter Hawkins, Andre Crouch, James Cleveland and Mahalia Jackson.

Norma will be sorely missed by all of her family. Norma was preceded in death by her father, Nathaniel Foxworth, mother, Lugenia Foxworth, her heart, her son, Darren Dingle, sister, Lillie M. Wimbush, brother, Minister Ishmael Foxworth and brother Joseph Foxworth. Norma leaves to cherish all of her memories, her rock, her love, her husband Mr. John Wesley Dingle, sisters and their husbands; Ernestine (Arthur) Conner, Catherine Dingle, Rosa (Andrew) Eckford, and Patricia Mitchell, brothers and their wives; Nathaniel (Martha) Foxworth Jr., Robert (Sherell) Foxworth, Ronnie (Dorothy) Foxworth, and Samuel Foxworth, sister in-laws and husbands, Anna B. Williams, Aminee Moore, Ida M. White, Gloria (James) Gerald, and a special neice Sheila (Orlando) Toney, her loving nieces and nephews, all of her cousins, and a host of relatives and friends.
